The Secret Address: The Electric Cinema

The oldest working cinema in the UK, the Electric Cinema is an entirely different experience to your regular film viewing. Seat yourself on a comfortable chair or roomy sofa and text your refreshment requests to the waiters as you enjoy the old-fashioned cinema experience. There’s no popcorn and fizzy drinks here, instead treat yourself to absinthe fountains and homemade cakes in the exquisite surrounding of the art deco bar.

Conveniently located close to Birmingham International Airport and within walking distance of the NEC, the Hilton Metropole is the most luxurious place to rest your head in the city. The Event: Birmingham International Fashion Week

One of the key events in the Birmingham calendar was cemented with last year’s Birmingham International Fashion Week. Held over two days from 28th February – 1st March, the event begins with a champagne reception and unfolds to present exciting design talent from both local and international designers and brands.

Inspired by Victorian explorer and botanist Hettie G. Watson, this Grade 2 listed building has been transformed into a fusion of a decadent drinking den and a natural history museum. The nineteenth century décor is complemented by canopies of plants, projections of butterflies and apothecary-style jars of flowers – there is even a hidden room to find if you follow the clues scattered around the bar! The cocktail menu focuses of rediscovering forgotten classics with an extensive menu of drinks that you won’t find elsewhere in the city.
