Vivid hues and ornate embellishments are recurring elements of Matthew Williamson's
collections. Ombre feathering, dazzling jewels and tapestry weaving adorn feminine dresses, cropped jackets and tailored trousers to create statement pieces that instantly evoke visions of exotic, far-flung locations.
His Autumn/Winter 2013 collection sought inspiration from the ethereal Northern Lights, with scenic prints and holographic sequins emblazoned across garments. A bold colour palette injected a vibrant alternative to winter dressing – turning down the usual autumnal hues in favour of acid yellow, mint, tangerine, magenta and teal tones.
Party wear was abundant, to the delights of Williamson’s devotees – with lace skater dresses and sweeping evening gowns offering options for every occasion. A new direction this season introduced relaxed tailoring in the form of collar-less coats, pleated mini-skirts, silk shirts and cropped trousers; adding a new dimension to Williamson’s collections.
