10 GOING OUT HEELS YOU NEED THIS CHRISTMAS

The hottest shades of the season that’ll help you hide post-party eyes.

WORDS: MARNI ROSE MCFALL

Santa tell us: what shoes should we wear? We’re getting ready for the biggest party of the year, and we’ve got a whole host of designer party heels on the menu. That’s right, Christmas 23 is here and this year, we’re taking things to new heights (quite literally) with a host of killer party heels. The finishing touch to any look, this season it’s all about statement platforms, sleek sandals and pops of colour. Get ready to dance all night in Miu Miu, Jimmy Choo, Saint Laurent and more.

1. THE ‘IT’ GIRL HEELS

They were all over Miu Miu’s AW23 runway, then they were all over Vogue and now, they’re all over our social feeds. That’s right, we’re talking about the Miu Miu Decollette Slingback heels aka, the shoes of the season. In a glossy nude finish, the slingbacks feature clever cut-outs and are finished with slinky straps and gold buckles for a statement look. Go on Dancing Queen.

2. THE NEUTRAL PLATFORM SANDALS

It’s Christmas. It’s time to go big. Enter: larger-than-life platforms. The best bit? They’re Saint Laurent. In a rich shade of chocolate brown, the Jodie Platform Sandals are crafted from glossy patent leather and feature an almond-shaped peep toe. For a finishing touch? A slim leather strap wraps delicately around the ankle.

3. THE JET BLACK KNEE HIGHS

All we want for Christmas? It’s Choo. If anyone has perfected the art of the party heel, it’s London locals Jimmy Choo. One of the biggest names in luxury footwear, they’ve been creating big-energy, party-ready styles since the early ‘90s. Our top pick this season? These knee-high boots. Crafted from black leather and sitting upon a razor-thin stiletto heel, they’ll take any outfit up a notch. How does that Jet song go?

4. THE BLOOD-RED STILLETOS

Thanks to the Gothnaissance that has been dominating the fashion set since the release of Netflix’s Wednesday last year, we’ve fallen head over heels for big blood reds. And Christian Louboutin’s Kate Psychic Pumps more than hit the brief, thanks to the glossed-up scarlet colourway and viciously sharp stiletto heels. If The Nightmare Before Christmas is your favourite Christmas movie, these are the Louboutins for you.

5.THE HOT PINK HEELS

Once upon a time, we were all wishing for a brand-new Barbie under the Christmas tree. But now that we’re all grown up, we’re lusting after a pair of heels that remind us of our impossibly long-legged plastic friend (or make us feel like Margot Robbie, either will do really). Lucky for us, Tom Ford has created a pair that transports us into our very own Barbie Dreamhouse. Life in Tom Ford, it’s fantastic (or so the saying goes).

6.

THE LITTLE GOLD HEELS WITH A TWIST

The desired effect when you walk into the party? All, eyes, on, you. And we’ve got your one-way ticket to an impact-making outfit thanks to Bottega Veneta. The Knot Sandals in glossed-up gold are the pair to get the party started with. Finished in a shimmering metallic gold, the heel features the brand’s signature knot detail for an instant eye-catching look. Pair with matching heavy metal pieces in all-out silver and gold for ultimate party appeal.

7. THE LITTLE BLACK HEELS

Simple, chic and classic, Prada’s Slingback Pumps take a leaf straight out of Mary Bailey’s book and are just what our festive dreams are made of. Adorned with a ribbon-style embellishment, they’re finished with the house’s signature logo, slim heels and a skinny black strap. We know what we want under the tree.

8. THE GLOSSY NUDE MULES

Glossy nude tones? Yeah, they’re no longer the reserve of your makeup. Introducing the Ester Mules by The Attico. In a rich shade of chocolate brown that screams ‘90s beauty, these mules are a) backless, b) sat on a sloping, wedged heel and c) finished with a high gloss finish, and if that’s not the recipe for a winning party fit, we don’t know what is.

9. THE ROSE PETAL HEELS

One of the key trends this season? The corsage. The humble fabric flower has fast become a must-have this season. Looking to hop on the trend? Magda Butrym have delivered the goods with their Flower Mules. In a hit of black, they feature a delicate red rose fixed to the front of the heel. The best bit? They go perfectly with Magda Butrym’s matching corsage-covered bags and dresses.

10. THE STATEMENT SILVER HEELS

Disco-ball silver? Check. A chunky black heel? Check. All-out party appeal? Check, check, check. Stella McCartney’s Mirror Heels have hit one of the season’s key trends (read: all-out silver) and we couldn’t be more obsessed if we tried. Styling tip: these heels will look even better paired with one of Stella McCartney’s mini dresses.
