ALL LIPS AND NOTHING ELSE

Bold lips meet status skin in one of our favourite, easy-to-nail beauty trends of the moment.

A nod to easy, French girl style, this contrasting makeup look is all about mixing a perfectly applied bold lip with fresh, gorgeous skin. Vivienne Westwood nailed the formula at their SS23 show earlier this season. Models were seen with minimal makeup and colourful, berry-toned lips.

The key to pulling it off? Your signature shade of lipstick and some hardworking skincare that delivers radiant, dewy skin.

If you’re jumping on the skinmalism trend that was seen all over the Stella McCartney, Miu Miu and Burberry SS23 shows, then it’s time to start thinking about lip care.
Cue a host of balms, masks and nourishing formulas. From Patrick Ta’s Magic Glow Softening Lip Masque to Sisley’s thirst-quenching Nutritive Lip Balm, these beauties have been created to boost hydration and plump the skin to leave you with pillowy soft lips.

'90s GRUNGE LIP

We hate to state the obvious but, the ‘90s are back. And one trend that’s really standing out for us?
Grunge makeup (specifically dark lipstick). Spotted on the catwalks of Prada and Versace, (shout out to Pat McGrath), grunge-inspired makeup is going nowhere.

How to achieve it? Start with a dark pencil and line the outside of the lips. Focus on the shape you want to create and then bring the colour down ever so slightly. Next, use a red lipstick, tint or gloss on the centre of the lips and blend outwards melting the product in with the lip liner. The result? A killer ombre lip.

BLURRED LINES

If you’re known for your signature lip look, then you’ll be familiar with the dreaded smudge. Rather than fight it, we’re now embracing it as the new way to work lipstick.
After making an appearance on the Jonathan Simkhai runway during New York Fashion Week, blurred lips are the perfectly imperfect beauty trend we can’t get enough of.

With this one, you can skip the painstaking pencil and precision application and go for easy-wear matte textures designed to be blurred at the edges for that just-bitten appeal.

Tip: Apply to the centre of your lip and use your finger to smudge to the edges for an instant lived in feel.
