BIG COAT ENERGY

Paragraph

WORDS: MARNI ROSE MCFALL Photographer: jane doe

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… I.e. it’s time to pick your party coat. Loud looks, unrelenting energy and indescribable style: these are the garms that are bringing big coat energy this season. Think hard-hitting puffers, statement overcoats and slick leather jackets. We’re on route to the biggest part of the year, and these are the plus ones that are guaranteed entry. Introducing the hardest styles from the hottest brands that hit every trend. From Stone Island and Canada Goose to Alexander McQueen and Dolce&Gabbana, these are the key coats of the season and, how to style them. You’re welcome.

THE COLOUR-POP PUFFER

The puffer jacket will always have a special place in our hearts. But when that puffer jacket is a) in a vivid pop of colour and b) from Stone Island, we become fully obsessed. And that’s exactly what’s happened with the Metal Puffer Jacket. From the classic badge to the vibrant ocean blue colourway, it’s all our hearts desire this Christmas. Pair with the Nylon Metal Trousers and a pair of chunky trainers so you’re ready for the dance floor and keep the Wool Balaclava handy in case of a cold front.

THE CLASSIC PUFFER

For Christmas 23, Canada Goose are keeping things classic with the Crofton Puffer. In an all over, glossy finish and complete with their signature badge, it hits all our criteria for the perfect puffer jacket. To style, we’re employing the help of Casablanca. Opt for a logo-heavy t-shirt, a pair of big and baggy jeans and the cult Out of Office trainers from Off-White. Easy.

THE STATEMENT OVERCOAT

Dreaming of a gothcore Christmas? Alexander McQueen have got your back. As the nights get dark, our love for all things gothic and statement-making comes to the forefront, and the Orchid Overcoat ticks every box. Ft. a blood red flower print and razor-sharp tailoring, it’s a vibe. Stay on theme with their crisp button down and Cigarette Trousers and level things up with a pair of lace-up boots, a slick leather tote and a chunky silver bracelet.

THE PRINTED PUFFER

Your puffer jacket? It’s time to print it. This party season, Moncler are making the case for ultra-loud printed party puffer, and we’re more than on board. Top of our wish list? The Mosa jacket. Covered in a blue-and-black camouflage print that draws inspiration from mountain landscapes, it’ll take you from party season straight into ski season. Wear with low-key and luxe pieces - like this t-shirt and cargo trousers combo - and finish with a pair of Moncler’s Pivot sneakers.

THE LEATHER JACKET

The appeal of a good leather jacket never wanes. Particularly come party season. And this Christmas, we’re turning to Dolce&Gabbana. Their Leather Bomber Jacket is a stone-cold classic, thanks to the holy trinity of biker jacket details: slim fit, waist length and jet-black hue. Pair with their monochromatic shirts and shorts co-ord, obviously. Decked out with classic Dolce&Gabbana details, it’s a big win. Finish with their Rosario necklace and a chunky loafer.

THE FAUX-FUR COAT

For Christmas 23, Amiri are putting the ‘big’ in big coat energy, thanks to their faux-fur puffer jacket. In rich chocolate brown and covered in soft faux fur, it’s the perfect party companion. To style it? Keep things culty and classic with a pair of Amiri’s larger-than-life cargo pants, signature Skeleton Trainers and Saint Laurent’s Logo Tank Top. For a finishing touch? Throw on Amiri’s Record Bag. Now, where’s the party?
