FESTIVAL accessories wish list

Party backpacks, silk scarves, facial mists: this is what creator Alessia Golfetto advises you add to your festival packing list stat.

WORDS: HANNAH DUNN Photographer: Jane Doe

If the forecast is anything to go by, it’s going to be one hell of a hot Glastonbury. So, whilst you might be stripping off the layers and simplifying your festival outfits, you’ll want to start pilling on the accessories. After all, great accessories have the power to make any look....

So, what to pack? We turned to content creator Alessia Golfetto to curate the ultimate festival accessories packing guide. From silk scarves you can use in a multitude of ways to shimmering backpacks that will neatly carry your festival beauty essentials (read: facial spritz, glosses and bronzer) and – duh – wellies (for when the weather inevitably decides to take a British turn for the worse) this is what to squeeze into Glastonbury luggage this festival season.

This is Alessia Golfetto’s festival accessories wish list.

1. THE PARTY BACKPACK

As much as I’d love to be that reliable girl that has everything you could possibly need “just in case”, realistically, it’s so overstimulating carrying a big purse around all day. What more could you need than your lip gloss, SPF and a power bank? This bag’s perfect for that! Also, it’s giving me high fashion backpacker - so cute.

2. THE STATEMENT SUNGLASSES

These sunnies honestly speak for themselves - hands down one of my favourite drops this year. The gold cuff detail is such a statement; it pulls any look together, especially when you’re not in the mood to try too hard. I’ll be wearing these when it’s too hot for makeup or having my hair down. Literally just slick your hair into a pony and throw these on — trust me, no one will notice a thing but these glasses!

3. THE EXTRA-LARGE BAG

No one wants to walk all the way back to the camping grounds just because they forgot something. With a bag this big, you’ll have everything you need and then some. I tend to carry a bag within a bag within a bag, so this is perfect to go hands free all day.

4. THE LIGHT SCENT

If you’re gonna be dancing all day, you need a scent that: 1. smells delicious and 2. lasts ages. I love this perfume for hot summer days; it’s light but a tad bit oud-y so it still has that punch to leave a trail from stage to stage. Plus, I always get compliments so you know it smells good.

5. THE NOURISHING GLOSS

No one likes chapped lips. I’ve tried so many lip oils for moisture and gloss, but this is the only one so far that keeps my lips plump even after drinking, eating and talking all day. Also, I love that it’s not too sticky - that’ll just add to my overstimulation.

6. THE INSTANT BRONZER

While you could actually get a tan, I prefer a more compact version of that - something I can just reapply. This is one for all my fellow sweaty girls out there; you will love this. It’s transfer proof, it’s sweat proof, and it gives you such a nice glow like you’ve been at the beach all day.

7. THE REFRESHING FACIAL SPRITZ

This is a festival essential with this heat. As much as it’s important for you to stay hydrated, the same goes for your skin too. I’ve been using La Mer’s The Revitalizing Mist while I’m out to refresh my makeup and it’s been amazing at keeping my face dewy but not too oily. Highly recommend!

8. THE SILK SCARF

A scarf is one of my favourite ways to complete a look - or even make a look - and it’s so underrated in my opinion. I love the purple on this one from Coach to add a pop of colour to a plain outfit. You could tie it around your head or have it dangling from your belt loops or even wear it around your neck as a DIY face mask – POV: you’re a germaphobe.

9. THE STURDY BOOTS

I refuse to be stepped on in a crowd. This way, it’ll hurt them more than it hurts me. Contrary to what you might think, Timberlands can actually be really comfy to wear all day (I know from experience). I’d style them like an off-duty celeb at Coachella: tiny tank top, baggy jeans and some sunnies. Make sure you wear thick socks though…

10. THE ESSENTIAL WELLIES

If you’re doing Glastonbury without a pair of wellies, then you’re the bravest person I know. Everyone needs a pair of wellies no matter the weather; they’re comfy, easily cleaned and sturdy. They’re practical but they can be so cute with some booty shorts, graphic baby tee and a chunky belt — now you’re ready for Charli XCX.
