HOW TO STYLE SCENT: WITH IntHEFROW

Who better to explore the new collections with, than FLANNELS Beauty Ambassador, Inthefrow? Loved for her overarching approach to style, from threads to makeup to fragrance, Victoria knows how to nail a look. Here she explores her relationship with fragrance and fashion and shares three key looks for the season from Prada, Saint Laurent and Valentino.

Fragrance is inherently tied to the emotional centre of our brain. A simple spritz of a favourite fragrance can transport you back to a particular time, place, feeling or memory. Fashion does the same thing for me. Slipping on my favourite linen dress transports me back to the Grand Canal in Venice. While my yellow Saint Laurent blazer takes me back to the amazing moment when FLANNELS named me as a FLANNELS Beauty Ambassador.

I love to match my fragrances to my looks. Floral, fresh and citrus notes are the perfect accompaniment to a summer linen look, with loose fabrics, floral prints, and delicate embroidery. Amber, vanilla, and crystal moss are my notes of choice for evening events, such as date nights with my husband. The deeper tones make me feel powerful, sexy, never failing to put a little swagger in my step.

I tend to keep my fragrances within my walking dressing room, on a glass and bronze tray. Fragrances bottles are beautiful and deserve to be in pride of place for everyone to see and take a sneaky spritz of when they come to my dressing room.

I used to love sweeter fragrances, with floral notes, but my relationship with fragrance has certainly matured. Gone are sweet scents and in their place are fresher fragrances with citrus notes and deeper base notes of vanilla or crystal moss.

So, when the cloud draws in this AW21, spritz yourself with your favourite summer fragrance and let the notes transport you to a time of blistering sunshine, carefree days, and everlasting daylight…

Power suits and puffer coats are a huge trend for AW21. This look has it all and is a fabulous take on both trends with a more tailored touch. It would be perfect for Paris Fashion Week, running from show to show whilst looking wonderfully chic. I love pairing figure-hugging dresses with chunky accessories to add an edge to a monochrome look.

Soften your look with neutral makeup, loose waves and this Prada logo headband. And swap your combat boots for elegant stiletto heels for an evening look that screams Parisian chic.

Pair with La Femme Leau, which has top notes of Mandarin orange and frangipani with heart notes of ylang-ylang. It’s the perfect fresh and delicate fragrance to contrast this bold look.

NOT SO MELLOW YELLOW

After a turbulent time in lockdown, fashion is back with a bang. Whilst autumnal tones are still present, bold and energetic colours have made a splash across the AW21 runways, bringing the optimism that we’ve all been craving. The trend has been coined “dopamine dressing”; dressing in colour to boost our moods. Well, bring it on…

Blazers play a vital role in my wardrobe. Recently, I’ve been loving dressing them down with a pair of cycle shorts as a contrast to the structured fit of a double-breasted blazer. This look is versatile and undeniably comfortable, and it has everything you need to take you from the office to the bar with a simple shoe change.

This sunshine-yellow blazer is my absolute favourite statement piece and surprisingly versatile. Pair with black cycle shorts or team with a white t-shirt and straight-leg jeans for a sophisticated look that can go from day to night.

Layer on a touch of Libre. French Lavender essence meets Moroccan orange blossom - a reinvention of the typical floral perfume. Floral notes work wonderfully to elevate the jacket, while a note of vanilla compliments the cheeky addition of cycling shorts.

LOGO MANIA

Logos are a huge trend for AW21. Pledge your allegiance to Valentino with this heavily branded look. My top tip is to stick to muted browns, black and beige to ensure it stays chic, not trashy. While stripe dresses are also a huge trend for AW21, in either a jersey or knit material. This new take on a striped patterned dress is gorgeous. I love to pair mine with a statement belt and trench coat in tonal colours.

Take this look from day to night by swapping your favourite Valentino RockStuds for a pair of chunky military boots and a cross-body bag. Feeling the chill? Try popping this midi over a pair of skin-tight jeans and knee-high boots, pair with a trench, cinched in with a statement belt, and you’re winter-ready.

Valentino Voce Viva is one of my current favourites. Top notes of fresh Italian bergamot give way to the soft scent of juicy mandarin, floral heart notes and golden gardenia. Accords of crystal moss and vanilla add an unexpected and surprising layer to this fragrance, just like the infamous stud that makes the Valentino Rockstuds.
