PARTY SEASON:

THE PARTYWEAR TRENDS OF THE SEASON

Paragraph

Author: Author Photographer: Photographer

At FLANNELS, the party never stops. And when we’re serving looks like this, who can blame us? This Christmas, even if the night is coming to an end, we’re asking, where next? And as we head into the night, this is what we’ll be wearing. Think a new spin on suiting from Versace, colour-pop dresses from Dolce and Gabbana and nearly naked fits from Saint Laurent and Prada. Oh my! These are the ultimate partywear trends of the season.

1. THE PARTY SUIT

For 2022, we’re doing tailoring a little differently. And Versace have delivered. Think pinstripes, but not as you know them - look carefully and you’ll see they’re made up of tiny little Versace logos. Genius. On the bottom? The standout piece of 22: the ultra mini. Just add a corset top and platform boots to be sure the vibe is 24/7 party, not 24/7 working.

2. THE MATCHING CO-ORD

What’s pink, red and Versace all-over? This checked co-ord. Taking a classic silhouette and making it their own, Versace have put a unique spin on the proceedings with vividly coloured houndstooth, big bold Medusa buttons and risky hemlines. Wear with a conversation-starting tee and heels that come with their very own bling. Cher Horowitz who?

3. THE POP OF COLOUR

One of the year’s key trends? Big, bold, juicy pops of colour (read: Big Energy Dressing). And this year, our appetite for retina-searing statement colours is stronger than ever. One of the hottest colours of the year? Deep reds. The appeal is largely down the goth renaissance (read: the Kravis wedding, the recent Wednesday adaptation and everything Dove Cameron has worn this year). Blues have also been having a moment, with the fashion week streets awash with shades of cerulean and cobalt. And of course, there’s Barbie pink, which was recently dubbed the trend of the year by Lyst. And honestly, if you haven’t already, it’s time to give it a spin.

4.THE SECOND SKIN OUTFIT

Barely there, skin-flashing, naked dressing, whatever you want to call it, this year we’ve been wearing less and going out more. Naked dressing has been one of the defining fashion moments of the past year, read: Kim K in that Marilyn Monroe dress at the Met Gala (which was just named red carpet moment of the year by Lyst), Kendall Jenner wearing tights as pants, and basically anything Julia Fox has worn. We’re going all out, baring all. The keys to nailing the trend? Skin-tight slips, underwear as outerwear and anything flesh coloured.
