INSIDER'S GUIDE:
To celebrate the launch of our new Leeds Flagship, tastemaker and illustrator Poppy Almond shares her city.
The birthplace of jelly tots, fizzy water and The Kaiser Chiefs. There's a lot to thank Leeds for, it seems. But amongst the many reasons we're in love with the city? It's unmatched people. Epic northern hospitality. Strong community. Cultural clout. And - it turns out - a whole lot of incredible food to consume too.
Heading there for 24 hours to check out the latest FLANNELS Flagship? Course you are. While you’re there, tastemaker, illustrator and Leeds native Poppy Almond has rounded up a hit list of the very best places to eat, chill and get your culture fix.
This is Leeds, curated by Poppy Almond, for FLANNELS.

BOTTLE CHOP is located just outside of the city centre in Headingley but worth the trip. A beautiful bottle shop, bar and deli, serving up the best natural wines and toasties. My order will always be a glass of orange wine with some olives! Make sure you visit their coffee shop, FIKA, a couple of doors down.

LEEDS ART GALLERY exhibits an amazing collection of modern British and contemporary art that changes frequently. Finish your visit in the tiled hall cafe. Such a beautiful space and the perfect place to sit with a tea. Stop next door in the small but exciting HENRY MOORE INSTITUTE.

WHITELOCK’S is the oldest pub in Leeds, founded in 1715. It’s tucked away up a little alley, but the atmosphere is always the best and the perfect place to get cosy during the cold winter evenings. Their Guinness is supposedly the best in Leeds!

My local park, when I lived in Headingley, was a great everyday spot to walk my dog Bambino. Grab a coffee from either FIKA or BARE COFFEE in Headingley beforehand and head towards Meanwood for the MEANWOOD VALLEY TRAIL. Finish the walk with a drink at MYRTLE TAVERN.

Located in Leeds Dock, NOVA BAKEHOUSE is my favourite spot to stock up on bread and pastries. You can watch the dough being kneaded whilst waiting for your order and their annual Christmas biscuit tins are amazing and make the perfect gift.

HEADROW HOUSE is my go-to for a night out. Headrow’s rooftop bar is one of my favourite ways to spend a sunny evening in Leeds but they also have an event space, a beer hall and a beautiful restaurant — OX CLUB, for when the Leeds weather isn’t playing ball.
