Dancer. Singer. Performer. Producer. The multi-disciplinary artist can’t be put in a box. And as the newest partner of On, she’s inspiring us to reframe how we train.

An award-winning music career, that saw her become the first Black woman to be given NME’s Godlike Genius Award in 2022, bag MTV EMA’s Award for Best Alternative in 2019 and receive a Mercury Prize nomination in 2014. Appearances on the big screen in 2019’s Honey Boy and this year’s upcoming The Crow, have cemented her status as an actor. Covers of British Vogue and i-D have illustrated her cultural kudos (she was featured on the cover of i-D before she’d even signed a record deal) as she effortlessly moves through the creative world. It's this movement – through life, through career, through her body – that inspired her partnership with On.

The place it all started? With dancing. Classical ballet, specifically, aged 8. It was this talent that landed her gigs as a backing dancer for the likes of Ed Sheeran and Jessie J and propelled her move to London at 17. These days? There’s hip hop and ballet, vogueing and contemporary in her world. For her second album Magdalene she learnt the ancient art of wushu sword fighting and for her music video ‘Cellophane’ she mastered pole dancing. Her physicality has become as much a part of her art as her music itself.

The perfect partner then for Swiss activewear brand On, who earlier this year announced FKA twigs as their new creative partner and the face of their AW24 Training Collection. Designed to flex their expertise into new ways of movement, the partnership illustrates the limitless potential of exercise and redefines the body as art itself.

“FKA twigs embodies On’s mission to ignite the human spirit through movement. As a disruptor across dance, music, creativity and movement, FKA twigs inspires us to remember that training can take shape in different forms – whether it's at the gym or in the studio,” said Marc Maurer, On's Co-CEO, at the time of the partnership being announced.

The result is training through a new lens. Activewear that can flex, whatever your need. High-performance pieces that enable movement. A kit that will give you the space to move, to create, to experiment, without reservation.

"When I train, I feel very beautiful, but it's a beauty from the inside. It's got nothing to do with how I look on the outside. It's just a beautiful feeling,” explains FKA twigs. “The body is art, so why don’t we approach it that way?"

As FKA twigs shows, movement can be anything you want it to be. Training doesn’t have to mean hitting the gym or pounding the pavements, although that’s cool too. It can mean bending and stretching, jumping and twisting. It can take the shape of ballet or pole dancing. It can mean a HIIT workout or lifting weights. For twigs, training has become a space to play, to think creatively and to express herself.

What FKA twigs – and On – advocate for is experimentation. Of finding types of movement that break the mould, that offer something unique; something different to the traditional training methods. That suit your body and your life. Whatever that looks like.

To do this? You’ll want a kit that’s unrestricted. Fabric that bends and stretches with your body. That shapes and supports and leaves you feeling comfortable and free. That holds the body and bends with it. This is training by On. Reimagined by FKA twigs. Get ready to move.
