THE SPRING TRENDS EDIT:
The mini, the matching, the monochrome: this is how to style out denim this spring according to Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen and more.
Spring called – it thinks your denim needs an upgrade. Ready for a new energy? Allow us to introduce you to new luxury denim. With the likes of Alexander McQueen, Versace, Miu Miu and Prada leading the way, denim has a whole new lease of life. As for the styles? From the notorious double up to Ms. Miuccia’s ultra-minis, the list is endless. And when it comes to styling, anything goes. From sharp silhouettes to co-ordinating sets and fresh takes on the Canadian tux, luxury denim has never looked better.
For SS23, we’re ready to shake things up. And who better to do it with than perennial rule breaker, Alexander McQueen? Architect of all things unconventional, for 2023 it’s all about their refreshed take on double denim. The Boyfriend Jeans keep things simple while their Denim Jacket hangs off the shoulders and comes in tight at the chest for a corset-like effect. Pair with their ultra-high platform boots and cult Skull Embossed Bag. The Canadian tuxedo has never looked so good.
Distressed denim is key for SS23, and Versace’s take on the trend is best in class. If you’re looking to really nail the trend, take a pair of slashed-to-hell jeans in a loose, slouchy fit and add one of the brand’s cult corset tops to take things up a notch. Feel like taking things to new heights? Slip into the brands cult platforms in a shade of soft baby blue and add an ultra-loud accent c/o the hot-pink shoulder bag. Ultra-loud looks? It’s in Versace we trust.
The ultra-mini? These days it’s a staple. And the mother of the trend, Miu Miu, is leading the way. Since their teeny tiny mini skirt went viral following their SS22 show, a Miu Miu mini has become one of the most coveted pieces in the biz. And this classic denim iteration is a firm favourite. Pair with a classic striped button down and take things to the next level by layering up with the Cady Feather Crop Top. Finish things off with knee high boots and one of their cult Matelassé bags.
Black, white and Prada all over? You’ve got our attention. In 2023, denim is no longer the reserve of just our jeans - we’re wearing it up top, down below and on the side (read: the denim bag trend). And when it comes to the denim top, Prada’s take is the best in the biz. Layer an oversized denim shirt over a strappy denim bustier for a utilitarian take on denim. On the bottom? A pair of tailored shorts. Lean into the monochrome with some retro accessories – we’re thinking nylon scrunchies, leather downtown sneakers and a leather camera bag.
