It’s that time of year. The parties are coming in thick and thin. Your diary is jam-packed. You know the energy. Now, it’s time to nail your beauty look, whether it’s bold blush, bitten lips or metallic eyes inspired by the Noughties. Sometimes, we find the ‘getting ready’ part of the night as fun as the party itself, and these makeup looks are an instant mood. Hot off the runway and inspired by the latest viral trends, we’ve scoured the internet and got the inside track on the best party makeup looks of the season. With a little help from Prada Beauty, Pat McGrath Labs and Charlotte Tilbury, you can easily recreate these looks at home. Put on your playlist and get your brushes ready.

The ‘90s called… it wants its blush back. Party season makeup is taking its cues from the decade that’s got fashion in a chokehold. A flush of colour on the cheeks. A juicy red lip. Pared-back skin and laidback eyes. Recreate this look at home by building up Pat McGrath Labs Skin Fetish Divine Blush on the cheeks. Apply generously and sweep upwards to blend. If you’ve seen the viral ‘cold girl’ blush trend online, you’re there. It replicates the rosy cheeks you get after you’ve been out in the cold on a winter’s day. Think flushed and frosty. See Hailey Bieber and Sabrina Carpenter for inspiration. Next, for a full ‘90s lip, layer Tom Ford’s Beauty Gloss Luxe in ‘Disclosure’ over Prada’s Monochrome Soft Matte lippy. We’ve gone for pillar box red shade ‘R129’. Finally, create a low-key shimmery eye with Prada Dimensions Durable Multi-Effect eyeshadow palette in ‘Shade 3’s’ rosy tones. Finish the look with a swipe of mascara and a softly defined brow. Girl, you’re ready to party.

It’s a Y2K world and we just live in it. Well, when it comes to our 2024 party persona that is. This is iridescent, high-impact makeup with a futuristic sheen. Start with shimmering, glowing, gorgeous skin. Charlotte Tilbury’s sell-out Flawless Setting Spray used as a primer is the perfect base. Then, highlight your lips, lids and cheeks with a pink sheen courtesy of Pat McGrath Labs. We love the brand’s cult Lust Gloss for a dazzling high-shine lip. For your cheeks, think makeup artist Nam Vo’s infamous ‘glass dumpling’ cheeks (Google it). A flick of eyeliner and strong, thinner-than-usual brows to finish. We’re referencing Vicky B in her Spice Girls era for brow inspiration. And the party perfume to go with it? House of Creed’s Queen of Silk, of course. Pro tip: when it gets to that time of the night to reapply, whip out your Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Setting Spray again. A quick spritz will refresh your makeup, even after a heavy-duty dancefloor session.

Forecast: a cold frost is moving in. At least when it comes to our makeup. Baby blue, shimmering eyeshadow is BACK. Dust off your palettes or, better yet, dive into a new one. Dip a toe in the blue trend with Clinique’s All About Shadow in ‘Lagoon’. Blend it up to the brow bone and into the corners of the eyes to replicate this statement look at home. Pro tip: use an angled brush to create a defined line along your nose. Almost like contouring, but in blue. Bring the vintage eyeshadow up to date with flawless skin and a nearly naked lip. Guerlain’s luxe KissKiss Bee Glow oil has a barely-there tint and a glassy 3D shine suitable for all complexions. Team with your favourite party dress and a generous spritz of after-dark perfume. We’re opting for Le Labo’s cult Santal 33 or Maison Margiela’s Replica On A Date Eau de Toilette for our night time adventures this season.
