FASHION WEEK EDIT:
There’s a lot of ways to describe American style. But the simplest would be iconic. By way of fashion icons like Aaliyah, Madonna and Cindy Crawford, to a new generation of power dressers like Bella Hadid and Tyler The Creator, it’s left an impression across the globe. And in 2025, Americana is evolving - think the pipeline from The O.C. and Gossip Girl (the O.G.) to Euphoria and Gossip Girl (the reboot) and our latest obsession with all things Western, thanks in no small part to Yellowstone and co.
In 2025, these are the luxury brands giving a new lease of life to American style. Think familiar favourites and new kids on the block. From bold It-girl pieces to streetwear that takes its cues from classic collegiate style, this is fashion that was made for the perennial prom kings and queens. Fashion that’s firmly about the future and knows how to have fun. The new Americana? We’re ready for it.
Sleek suits, bold eyewear, and slimline silhouettes have long defined the Tom Ford aesthetic, with collections rooted in the spirit of the ’70s – Ford’s favourite era. Over the decades, the house’s bold design codes have drawn devoted fans from the likes of Lady Gaga to Rihanna, Madonna to Austin Butler, becoming a firm favourite on the red carpet.
For AW25, the house enters a new era. Ford himself has stepped away, leaving his namesake brand under the creative direction of Haider Ackermann. And his debut collection reaffirmed the brand’s enduring codes, with clean lines, saturated hues and magnetic energy firmly taking centre stage. The investment pieces? Statement glasses, head-to-toe leather and tailoring built with longevity in mind.
Simple, refined, classic, Khaite is everything we’ve always loved about American fashion, tenfold. When they’re not creating season-defining pieces (read: the Maddie top, the Katie Holmes bra-digan and the Scarlett cardi) they’re honing game-changing aesthetics and turning staples into icons. Founder Catherine Holstein has become known for taking style cues from the dark glamour of New York City itself. The brand epitomises the ‘quiet luxury’ aesthetic which has been everywhere as of late (the hashtag has 41.1 million views on TikTok) and with their timeless, low-key luxe looks, you can be sure that whatever they’re doing, people will be talking about it.
Khaite’s AW25 show was cinematic and surreal, like Saltburn scaled up to Dune. The Park Avenue Armory transformed under architect Griffin Frazen into a glowing ochre ring. Set against this backdrop, Holstein delivered her signatures. Think pared-back neutrals, deep browns, jolts of red and denim traced in marigold. We’re taking notes.
Coach started in 1941 as a family-run NYC leather workshop, turning craftsmanship into low-key luxury. Rooted in Americana but always fresh, they reimagined classic heritage with legacy leather, signature C’s, and playful polish, bringing New York craftsmanship into the now, one It-bag at a time. Emily Blunt’s choice of Coach on The Devil Wears Prada 2 set? Need we say more?
From 34th Street leather to AW25, Coach has never stood still, and Stuart Vevers dials the frequency even higher. The runway? Scrapped for a studio-set, complete with instruments and a mood that felt more jam session than fashion show. As music swelled, models stepped out in tinted shades, flashes of colour cutting through the dark. Leather ruled the room, cropped jackets, trenches, and blazers: quiet luxury with bite. The result? A wardrobe for the city girl who doesn’t apologise.
Fear of God have ripped up the fashion rule book. Determined to do things their way, they’ve created a cult label known for its bold, seasonless approach and looks that transcend seasons. The brand’s low-key takes on tailoring are a must: think oversized blazers and slouchy tailored trousers. As for loungewear? Their sweats and mules have achieved true cult status. And then of course, there’s Jerry Lorenzo’s diffusion line, ESSENTIALS, which curates the ultimate laidback luxe approach to fashion. This is high-low dressing designed to stand the test of time.
More recently, Atlanta got the FOG treatment with the ‘Atlanta Capsule’ that threads hip-hop’s golden age, the city’s sporting obsessions and Civil Rights history into one tight edit. The Braves (MLB), Falcons (NFL), and Hawks (NBA) appear with Franklin gloves and exclusive New Era hats. But the capsule goes deeper: archival slogans like “We Won’t Move” and “Freedom Now” echo the Civil Rights legacy. Captured by Chris Rhodes and fronted by Georgia born Rapper 2 Chainz, each piece carries integrity, resilience, and resistance. You don’t just wear it, you feel it.
Ever wanted to inject a dose of Miami sunshine into your wardrobe? Turns out, there’s a way. Welcome to the cult of Cult Gaia. Founded by Jasmin Larian in 2012, the brand has become the apex of fashion that’s fun, flirty and free. Their manifesto? To curate a wardrobe that’s filled with magic. Now that’s an ethos we can get on board with. The sun may be setting on summer, but Gaia’s AW25 Resort campaign keeps the heat on with sun-drenched energy you can wear all year. Crochet, florals, flowing silhouettes; Cult Gaia does the holy trinity of resort dressing and then turns the dial up. Be beach-ready in a breezy maxi, party-ready in a sculptural mini and accessorise to perfection with their statement bags. Time to book some late summer sun…
The late Virgil Abloh didn’t just design, he formed a cultural blueprint. From runway moments to furniture drops, everything he touched blurred lines and broke boundaries. Off-White itself became the bridge between streetwear and luxury, rewriting the rulebook for multiple brands today. Think the cult “Meteor” line, game-changing collabs and that arrow motif - now cemented as a global icon. For AW25, new creative director I.B Kamara delivered his collection ‘State of Resistance’, built on the idea of oneness. The highlights? Architectural cuts, vivid hues, unapologetic attitude and garments that deliver identity.
Since 1967, Ralph Lauren has kept Americana fresh, balancing polish with just enough drama. Launched with a single tie and big dreams, the brand rewrote the American style playbook - mixing prep-school style with rugged frontier spirit. From iconic polos to runway moments, Ralph Lauren embodies heritage, luxury, and that unmistakable all-American energy. For AW25, Ralph Lauren turned New York into Versailles - marble columns, spiralling staircases, and ceilings that (almost) stole the show. Dubbed ‘The Modern Romantics,’ they transformed Victorian whimsy into street-ready style. The result? Frilled collars, backless lace, chandelier earrings, all grounded with distressed textures. Eveningwear took a softer turn, but no less bold. A starry front row looked on. Anne Hathaway’s glamour, Kacey Musgraves’ hat, and Naomi Watts’ smirk doing all the talking.
Inspired by California’s skate and street subcultures and propelled by founder Mike Amiri’s passion for haute couture, Amiri have established themselves as true streetwear heavyweights. Their legion of celebrity fans helps: Travis Barker, Law Roach and Black Thought can often be spotted repping the brand. Anything that has Amiri’s cult detailing is set to be a must-have. Mike Amiri’s AW25 collection was a love letter to LA: old Hollywood glamour, ‘70s nostalgia. AMIRI’s signature tailoring returned, this time drenched in ‘70s disco energy. Leather jackets, velvet suits and stripes as rich as a glass of merlot set the mood. While AMIRI’s womenswear line made its runway debut, featuring bias-cut silk-satin gowns and metallic-knits. The Hollywood label hosted an intimate event where guests including rappers Giggs and Gunna, model-musician Lucky Blue Smith, and several footballers gathered at bistro tables. energy bottled and poured straight into the collection.
Tommy Hilfiger’s always been about speed and style. Since ’85, it’s mixed classic American cool with fresh prep energy. Think bold colours, clean cuts, and raw East Coast attitude. Born on New York’s streets, Tommy took preppy staples and flipped them into culture-defining icons, turning heritage into a fast, fearless vibe that still runs the game. They were amongst one of the first brands to tap into the cultural clout of the music industry, combining fashion and hip-hop. For AW25, it shifts gears with The Hilfiger Racing Club - a high-octane spin on prep, fronted by Nicholas Hoult and Claudia Schiffer. Think luxury motorsport nostalgia: speed, polish and heritage, rewired. Varsity jackets, sporty bold crests and trench coats take the fast lane, and denim goes wide-leg with a tailored kick. As for the accessories? There’s iconic bags and slick boots with gritty nods to New York cool.
Rooted in American tradition but never playing it safe, Tory Burch mixes vintage grace with a free-spirited edge. Heritage is the backbone, but attitude is the whole vibe - flipping classic American style with bold patterns, iconic branding, and a luxe boho energy. Two decades deep, Burch is still remixing New York prep with a boho pulse and enjoying a big revival thanks to their viral jelly shoes that proved a big hit with the fashion set this summer. The brand’s AW25 collection takes it straight to the streets. Shot against the city’s chaos, Lulu Tenney, Selena Forrest and co. wear coats in firecracker hues, razor-sharp tailoring, and boots made for strutting down Fifth. But the Reva Ballet Flats? Straight out of a Sex And The City storyline. Resurrected from the 2000s with a sharper, sleeker finish, it’s the nostalgia trip your closet actually deserves. Whether you’re plotting nights out in the Big Apple or just in search of forever staples, this collection is the Mr. Big your wardrobe’s been waiting for.
